Neighborhoods and ZIP codes

Where we work in Melbourne, FL.

Anywhere in the City of Melbourne is in range. That covers the older streets downtown and along Crane Creek, Eau Gallie, and the neighborhoods around Wickham Park. Most of the city sits in ZIP codes 32901, 32934 and 32935. Suntree, just north of the city line, is on our list too.

A flat, paved driveway is the easiest setup. Brake and tire work means jacking the car up, so pavement beats grass or sand. Apartment and condo lots work if the property allows repairs there. Some complexes don't. Ask the leasing office before you book, and nobody wastes a trip. Office parks and work lots get their own section below.

Just outside the city? West Melbourne, Viera, Indialantic and Palm Bay each have their own page, and we cover all four.

At work

Fixing your car while you're at work.

Your car sits in the lot all day anyway. If you commute to an office park or one of the big Brevard employers, the repair can happen out there while you work, as long as the lot allows it. Nobody has to drive you to a shop or back again.

Gated and badge-access lots need a plan for getting a mechanic in, and some employers and property managers don't allow repairs on their lots at all. Check first. Then tell us the building and the row or garage level, plus the car's color and model.

Sort out the keys before the visit. Tell us how you want to hand them over, and keep your phone close. Nothing gets started until you've heard what's wrong and said yes to the quote, so we'll need to reach you even if you're stuck in a meeting.

Diagnose first

How a diagnose-first visit works.

Steps 02 and 03 above, up close. Here's what happens once we're standing next to your car, whether it's in a Suntree driveway or a lot off US-192.

01

We find the cause

Before anyone names a part, we test. A scan tool pulls any stored codes, then we check the part the code points to. A code tells you where to look. It doesn't always tell you what failed.

02

We show you

You see what we found, whether that's a worn pad or a cracked hose, and you hear it in plain words without the shop jargon.

03

You get the quote, explained

Parts and labor, laid out before anything starts, with what each piece is for. Here's how we price a job.

04

You decide

Nothing happens until you say yes. If you want to think it over or get a second opinion, that's your call.

05

We do that work, and only that

You get the repair you approved. If we spot something else along the way, you hear about it first, with its own quote, and it waits for your answer like everything else.

There's a longer walk-through in our post on how on-site car repair works.

Honest scope

What can't be done in a driveway.

Most repairs fit in a driveway. Some major jobs still need a shop, and you should hear that at the start, not once the car is half apart.

Tires show where the line sits. A nail or screw in the tread gets a plug-and-patch from the inside, right where the car is parked. For a new set of tires, we'll tell you straight whether a tire shop is the better move for your car. Any job that needs a shop gets the same answer. We say so when we diagnose it, instead of guessing or starting something we can't finish where the car sits.

You still walk away knowing what we found, in plain words, so you can call a shop knowing what to ask for.

Won't start

Car won't start? What to tell us when you call.

The sound the car makes when you turn the key narrows things down a lot. Tell us that when you call (321) 541-4630, and it helps us bring the right parts the first time.

Rapid clicking, or nothing at all, and the dash lights are dim or dead. That usually points to the battery or a loose, corroded cable.

One solid click, bright dash lights, and the engine doesn't turn over. That's the classic starter symptom, although a bad connection can fake it.

The engine cranks at normal speed but never fires. The battery and starter are doing their jobs, so the trouble is more likely fuel, spark or a sensor. That one needs testing at the car.

It started fine this morning and died later, or the battery light came on while you were driving. Think alternator. A new battery on a failing alternator just goes flat again.

Also give us the year, make and model, whether it's had a jump and how that went, and where it's sitting. A car nosed into a tight garage is a different setup than one in an open lot. Our car won't start page covers the visit itself. To read up on the symptoms first, see battery vs starter vs alternator, or go straight to battery replacement and starter and alternator replacement.

Buying used

Buying a used car? We'll inspect it at the seller's place.

Facebook Marketplace cars tend to sit in someone's driveway, and plenty of sellers won't hand the keys to a stranger to drive across town to a shop. So we go to the car instead, whether it's parked in Eau Gallie, in a lot off US-1 or on a dealer lot.

Set it up with the seller before you book. Get the address and a time, and tell them a mechanic is coming to look the car over. Ask them not to start it before we arrive, since a cold start can show things a warm engine hides.

At the car, we go over it, scan it for stored codes and road-test it when the seller agrees. You get a straight answer on what's fine and what isn't, in plain words, before any money changes hands. The pre-purchase inspection page lists what we check.

Florida weather

Heat, summer storms and your car.

A slow crank on a hot morning is often the first warning. Heat is harder on a battery than cold, and one that tested fine in spring can give out after a run of hot afternoons parked in the sun. If you've needed a jump more than once lately, get the battery tested before it picks the worst possible morning to quit.

In July stop-and-go on US-192 or Wickham Road, watch the temperature gauge. If it climbs toward hot, pull over somewhere safe and shut the engine off. Don't open the radiator or coolant cap while it's hot. Low coolant, a fan that won't switch on, a stuck thermostat and a worn water pump are the usual suspects, and we can check which one it is at the car. There's more on what to do in our post on an engine overheating in Florida traffic.

Afternoon storms can put water over low streets in a hurry. If you can't see the road under it, don't drive into it. And if the engine stalls in water, don't keep trying to restart it, because water pulled into the engine can wreck it. Get it somewhere safe and have it checked before you try starting it again.

Comparing the two

Mobile mechanic vs a repair shop.

For everyday repairs, coming to you means no tow and no ride back to a shop to collect the car. Some major jobs still belong in a shop, and we'll tell you when yours is one of them.

Is there a mobile mechanic that comes to my home in Melbourne, FL?

How much does a mobile mechanic cost in Melbourne, FL?

It depends on the car and the job. Every quote is upfront and explained before any work starts, with no surprise add-ons, and a driveway visit means no tow and no rides to and from a shop. Call (321) 541-4630 with your car and the problem to talk it through.

What can a mobile mechanic fix on-site in Melbourne, FL?

Most common repairs: diagnostics and check engine lights, brakes, batteries, alternators, starters, oil and fluids, belts, hoses, tune-ups, flat tires and pre-purchase inspections, all at your Melbourne home or workplace. If a job genuinely needs a shop, we'll tell you straight rather than guess.

Can you fix my car in my work parking lot in Melbourne, FL?

Yes, if your employer or property manager allows repairs in the lot. Tell us where the car is parked and how we'll get the keys, and we'll go over the quote with you before any work starts.

Which Melbourne, FL neighborhoods and ZIP codes do you cover?

All of the City of Melbourne, including Eau Gallie, Wickham Park, Crane Creek and downtown. Most of the city is in ZIP codes 32901, 32934 and 32935. We also cover Suntree, just north of the city, and the rest of our Brevard County cities, including West Melbourne, Viera, Indialantic and Palm Bay.

We tell you when we diagnose it, not halfway through the job. You get a plain explanation of what we found, so you can call a shop knowing what to ask for.

Can you get my car running in Melbourne, FL without a tow if it won't start?

Usually, yes. No-starts often come down to the battery, the starter or the alternator, and we can test and replace all three on-site. Tell us what happens when you turn the key. If the cause turns out to need a shop, we'll tell you that instead.

Do you inspect used cars at the seller's place in Melbourne, FL?

Yes. We inspect the car where it's parked, whether that's a private seller's driveway, a dealer lot or a parking lot. Set a time with the seller, ask them not to start the car before we arrive, and you'll get a straight answer before you hand over any money.
